The Good Guys

"West Wing politico Bradley Whitford reinvents himself for this entertaining free-for-all, a loose blend of buddy comedy and police action that's also an affectionate nod to series like Starsky & Hutch." - Tom Gliatto, People Weekly
Tom and the boys have been talking about a TV series "The Good Guys" for a few months now. They have been watching the series together on Netflix. They are always cracking jokes about Dan Stark. I finally decided to give the show a chance. It really is hilarious. It is about two cops An older cop, Dan Stark (Bradley Whitford), who is known for saving the governors son in the 80's. He is kind of stuck in the 80's. He doesn't always abide by the rules, but he is hilarious and always gets the bad guys. He is partnered with Jack Bailey (Colin Hanks) who is a young, smart detective that always plays by the rules. Bailey is assigned to Stark to help keep him in check. Julius Brown (RonReaco Lee) is the informant that gives Stark information and has often saved Stark and Bailey from danger. The district attorney (Jenny Wade) is the love interest of Bailey. Lt. Ana Ruiz (Diana Maria Riva) is in charge of Stark and Bailey. The chemistry of the actors is great. It is a well written comedy. I am bummed out that it only lasted one season. I think this series would have done well on USA. I'm not sure why it did not make it to a season 2. According to Andreeva (2010), "despite getting a preview run behind American Idol, the series starring Bradley Whitford and Colin Hanks never gained traction and performed underwhelmingly for its entire 20-episode run" (deadline.com).
